Alsace and Lorraine

Alsace and Lorraine

The storybook villages of Alsace, with their signature ornately patterned tile roofs, is truly like no other. This northeastern corner of France bordering Germany has flip flopped its national identity several times, caught in the tug of history's many wars. It is perhaps the greatest home for the 'aromatic' family of white wines: Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. Styles ranging from bone dry to massively concentrated with residual sugar have been known to confound consumers; one thing is for sure, once they're in your glass, they will indeed charm you!!! ALSO: The wines of the Lorraine with the lower Moselle river flowing through it can be found here.
